ADRIAN — The Adrian District Library will partner with Michigan Works Southeast next week to offer an introductory computer class.
Computer Crash Course will be the first of two technology-based programs the library will host in June. The crash course program will be from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 1. Because space will be limited due to the equipment the library has on hand, registration is encouraged. The course will be capped at nine registrants. However, users will be able to bring their own laptop computers with them and are welcome to attend, regardless of whether they registered, a news release from the library said.
Computer Crash Course will let attendees practice using a mouse and keyboard, help identify desktop computer components, and teach how to change common settings on their desktop computer and how to utilize a number of built-in applications.
To register, visit www.adrian.lib.mi.us, call the library at 517-265-2265 or visit the library during business hours at 143 E. Maumee St. in downtown Adrian.
Additionally, this month, the library will bring back the Millennial Tech Help program at 2 p.m. June 14. This drop-in class will allow attendees to receive one-on-one technology assistance from one of the library’s millennial staff. Although not required, users are welcome to bring their personal devices with them.
Both classes are offered at no cost and are open to the public. Adrian District Library cards are not needed in order to attend, the release said.
“Computer Crash Course” will also aim to teach attendees how to change common settings on their desktop computer and how to utilize a number of built-in applications.
“Being comfortable with computers is critical for employment and educational opportunities these days,” Jennifer Noble, adult and teen services librarian at the Adrian District Library, said in the release. “By partnering with Michigan Works! Southeast, we will be able to introduce community members to our combined wealth of resources and get them set up for future success.”
