Fantasy Baseball Rankings 2022: Top sleepers from proven simulation that called Franmil Reyes’ big year

Every season, the main source of excitement for optimistic Miami Marlins fans is the team’s young talent, and one of the players that tops that list is starting pitcher Trevor Rogers. The young lefty just didn’t get the run support he needed in order to be a bigger deal last season, but he finished with a 2.64 ERA with a 1.150 WHIP. A reliable set of 2022 Fantasy baseball rankings will help you build a strong pitching staff with the right mix of proven talent and up-and-comers.

Opposing batters hit just .218 against Rogers last season, and he comes into this season as the second half of a fireballing 1-2 punch with Sandy Alcantara at the front of the pitching rotation. Rogers could finish this season as one of the top 2022 Fantasy baseball sleepers, as he plays for a team that isn’t closely followed by many. Before you begin your 2022 Fantasy baseball draft prep, be sure to see the 2022 Fantasy baseball rankings and cheat sheets from the proven computer model at SportsLine.

Last season, SportsLine’s Projection Model identified several top Fantasy baseball sleepers, breakouts and busts, including Guardians designated hitter Franmil Reyes.

Reyes had a 2021 Fantasy baseball ADP outside the top 200 but the model predicted that he’d outperform that draft position. The result: Reyes hit 30 home runs and drove in 85 in 115 games for Cleveland and slashed .254/.324/.522 for an OPS+ of 127. Anybody who followed its advice and picked up Reyes late in their Fantasy baseball drafts received a huge power boost in their Fantasy baseball lineups.

The SportsLine model is engineered by the same people who powered projections for all three major Fantasy sites. And that same group is sharing its 2022 Fantasy baseball rankings and cheat sheets over at SportsLine, helping you find Fantasy baseball sleepers, breakouts and busts long before your competition. Their cheat sheets, available for leagues on many major sites, are updated multiple times every day.

Any time more MLB news comes out about the updated 2022 MLB schedule, free agency signings or Fantasy baseball injuries, the team at SportsLine updates its projections. Go to SportsLine now to see these proven Fantasy baseball cheat sheets.

Top 2022 Fantasy baseball sleepers

One of the 2022 Fantasy baseball sleepers the model is projecting: Phillies second baseman Jean Segura.

Segura’s 2022 Fantasy baseball ADP has taken a bit of a jump over where expectations fell for him in 2021 preseason Fantasy rankings. However, he is still being drafted far later than other second basemen despite finishing as one of the position’s most consistent hitters last year. His numbers were quite competitive with those he put up as an All-Star with Seattle in 2018, and he had batting splits of .290/.348/.436 with 14 home runs and 58 RBI.

After this season, Philadelphia must decide if they want to bring him back on a club option worth $17 million, which is another $2.15 million than it has been paying him for the last three seasons. The model thinks that he can earn it, and provide better Fantasy value than others currently going before him like Brandon Lowe, Marcus Semien or Jake Cronenworth.

Another of the 2022 Fantasy baseball sleepers the model is all over: Astros starting pitcher Jose Urquidy.

After playing just 14 games through his first two seasons with Houston, he pitched in 20 games for the Astros last year, and finished with an 8-3 record in the regular season with a 3.62 ERA. Urquidy made his Grapefruit League debut last week, and gave up just two hits in three innings of work. Last season, he struck out batters at a rate of 21.3 percent, and had the third-lowest ERA in the rotation (3.62), with the lowest WHIP (0.99).

Staff ace Justin Verlander just turned 39-years-old and Zack Greinke left in the offseason to return to Kansas City. The Astros are hoping Urquidy pushes to lead its next generation of starting pitchers, which is why the model likes his value more than higher-drafted options like Carlos Rodon, Alcantara and Freddy Peralta.

How to find proven 2022 Fantasy baseball rankings

SportsLine is also high on a surprising starting pitcher who lands in the top five of its positional rankings. This player is barely going off the board in the top 100 picks, but is projected to outperform starters such as Julio Urias, Max Scherzer and Lucas Giolito. This pick could be the difference in winning your league or going home with nothing. You can only see who it is here.
