The popular Boom 3D for Mac app has been updated to version v1.4, bringing with it new features that make it better than ever.

For those unfamiliar with Boom 3D, the app is designed to be a system-wide volume booster that also features support for 3D surround sound.

The app was already capable of creating the perfect sound profile for your Mac via a sleep interface, but this new update takes things to a whole new level.

With Boom 3D v1.4 installed, you’ll be able to create an immersive virtual surround feel with the app spatializing all audio channels from a 5.1 surround system. That means that movies, TV shows, games, and more will all sound great no matter what headphones you are using.

Here’s official changelog of v1.4:

New Feature – 5.1 Multichannel Audio Support

– The latest update of Boom 3D, creates a very immersive virtual surround feel by spatialising all audio channels of a 5.1 surround audio from games, music, and movies enriching the fidelity and depth of sound for lifelike sound on any standard headphones. Spatialising different channels of surround audio track on headphones results in distinct perception of different audio channels on headphones with clarity.

– On 5.1 home theatre systems, stereo audio can now be played on all its surround speakers (multichannel output). This option can be turned on in Settings > General Preferences.

You’ll also be able to turn individual virtual speakers on and off, including the adjustment of the subwoofer volume. Another addition is the ability to apply a 31-band equalizer so that you can tune the sound to be exactly the way you like it — no matter how that might be.

If you already have Boom 3D installed you’ll find the updated version ready and waiting for you in the App Store. For everyone else, you can download it afresh for yourself right now.
