Motorola, a sub-brand of Lenovo, has announced that it will be launching a new colour for the Motorola Edge 30 Fusion as part of its partnership with Pantone Color Institute, with the colour becoming the Pantone Colour of the Year.
The PANTONE 18-1750 Viva Magenta hue, has been selected by analyzing global trends and themes throughout the year and considers all aspects of society, from fashion to marketing, social media and even politics.
Ruben Castano, Executive Director of Customer Experience and Design for Motorola, a Lenovo company, said:
“Our exclusive, global partnership with Pantone in the smartphone category moves into its next stage being the only smartphone manufacturer to launch a device in the Pantone Color of the Year 2023, allowing consumers to explore, create and break boundaries through technology”
“This color truly reflects the cultural moment we are in, and we look forward to bringing this powerful shade to Motorola edge 30 fusion devices around the world.”
Elley Cheng, Pantone Vice President and General Manager, added:
“It’s been a privilege to explore the ‘Magentaverse’ alongside Motorola and the Motorola edge 30 fusion,” and “We are all united in the belief that design, innovation and personal expression can generate more creative solutions and cultivate a future that promotes joyousness and optimism.”
We have already reviewed the Motorola Edge 30 Fusion, and this colour just makes the device even more of a standout than the usual white or black colours we tend to see nowadays.
However, the bigger news to come out from Moto is that it has built a new Rollable concept mobile device which is quite impressive.
The new Rollable concept smartphone comes from the team at 312 Labs, Motorola’s internal innovation group of product, research, design and engineering experts across the globe.
Motorola is investing in flexible OLED or pOLED, screens to deliver an optimal balance of content and comfort. The new rollable concept phone, which is yet to have an official name, embodies this idea with a screen that adjusts to three distinct states: extended, compact and peek, with a simple press of a button.
At just over 4 inches tall, the Rollable concept retracts to a super pocketable form smaller than most other premium devices on the market.
The display can then roll out to become 6.5 inches in size for the display size. This gives users a more immersive gaming or a retracted size for on-the-go convenience; this concept provides endless opportunities for content creation and entertainment while offering newfound flexibility of a small device with a wraparound screen.
Ruben Castano, Head of Customer Experience & Design, Motorola, closed noting:
“While Rollable is currently in the conceptual stage, you can follow along on the latest innovations and updates on the Motorola website.”
There is no word on when or how much the new rollable device will be coming to the market, but the concept is certainly an interesting one. We will keep an eye out for further information and developments on this device as it comes to hand.
